About EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic technique that allows people to heal from past experiences that have caused emotional distress. Often, emotional blocks and self-sabotaging behaviors are the result of long-held negative beliefs adopted in childhood or as the result of a traumatic event.

These beliefs are powerfully embedded in the unconscious mind and often wreak havoc on people’s attempts at making meaningful change in their lives. Research has shown that utilizing gentle eye movements while processing past trauma can help resolve trauma more quickly and effectively than talk therapy alone.

What is the benefit of working with this type of therapy?

From the time we are born, we are taught to accept ourselves as limited beings – selling ourselves short, doubting our intuition, and giving away our power. The experiences of our past often teach us to defend ourselves against taking risks or being hurt. The result is that we often feel “stuck” in situations that create feelings of fragmentation, internal conflict, disconnection, fear, and stagnation. We often spend years trying to create new patterns of thinking and more productive habits, but something always seems to pull us back to our old ways. EMDR is a powerful techniques that heal the brain from these toxic thought patterns and create new belief systems based on self-love and confidence.

 Is EMDR effective?

Numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of EMDR in helping people overcome their deepest emotional wounds. There therapies can help relieve painful memories of trauma, including symptoms of PTSD. EMDR is also amazingly effective at helping people quickly let go of limiting beliefs, strengthen confidence, and improve performance.
